Rafael Nadal takes on Dominic Thiem in the second round of the 2014 French Open on Court Philippe Chatrier on Thursday.

Nadal raced into the second round by easily cruising past veteran wildcard entrant Robby Ginepri on Monday. The 27-year-old Spaniard needed 102 minutes to register a, 6-0, 6-3, 6-0, victory, which saw him drop just three points in the second set.

Thiem on the other hand was made to sweat for 128 minutes by Paul-Henri Mathieu but the Austrian emerged on top in straight sets with a, 6-4, 7-6 (3), 6-2, victory.

The winner of this clash will face the winner between Leonardo Mayer and Teymuraz Gabashvili in the round of 32.


Nadal and Thiem will be facing each other for the first time in their careers.
