MAGA RNC Rocked by Grindr Scandal After Gay Dating App Reportedly Crashes During Trump Convention

Donald Trump's Republican convention in Dallas had barely got underway when a reported Grindr outage gave critics a very different talking point, with one political commentator claiming the gay dating app was being overwhelmed just as Republicans gathered for the event.

The two-day Republican midterm convention, described in the podcast as 'Trumpapalooza', opened at the American Airlines Center with large sections of empty seating. Against that backdrop, reports of problems with Grindr in Dallas became fodder for jokes about the presence of closeted gay Republicans.

Empty Seats Set the Tone for Trump's Dallas Convention

The convention was portrayed as an awkward start for a Republican Party attempting to rally its supporters less than two months before the midterm elections.

According to the podcast discussion, roughly 1,000 chairs had been arranged on the arena floor, while much of the wider venue remained noticeably empty. Only a handful of sections appeared substantially occupied, with attendees described as trickling in while Republican candidates and officials took the stage.

The sparse turnout became a major part of the criticism, with the commentator arguing that Trump supporters were no longer showing the same enthusiasm seen during previous Republican gatherings.

The timing also created an additional challenge, with the convention competing for attention against NFL football.

House Speaker Mike Johnson defended the scheduling, saying the available dates were limited and arguing the convention was positioned close enough to the election to have an impact while taking place before early voting began in many states.

During the podcast, the host pointed to user reports showing problems with the dating app in Dallas and suggested the outage was connected to Republican delegates arriving for the convention.

The podcast also referenced journalist Julian Andreoni, who was quoted as writing that Grindr appeared to be crashing in connection with Republicans gathering in Dallas. The discussion treated the reported outage as an opportunity to revive a long-running internet joke about closeted gay Republicans.

However, there was no evidence presented in the podcast proving that convention attendees were responsible for the reported disruption.

The claim nevertheless became one of the most sensational parts of the discussion, particularly because Grindr is specifically associated with gay and bisexual men.

The commentary then turned towards prominent Republicans, including Johnson, Senator Tim Scott, Lindsey Graham and Josh Hawley.

The podcast also revived an earlier allegation involving Senator Bernie Moreno and an alleged Grindr account. The host referred to a theory surrounding an account supposedly linked to Moreno and discussed claims that had circulated online.

The Grindr episode remains a viral talking point rather than proof of a mass dating-app presence among Republican convention attendees.
