Rodgers defiant over striker shortage

January couldn't come soon enough for Brendan Rodgers. The Liverpool boss is facing a real dilemma after injuries have left the Reds with only Luis Suarez as their only striker.
Rodgers has claimed he is 'not crying about it', and is sure that Suarez will relish the challenge of leading Liverpool's front line.
Rogers missed out on a string of strikers this summer, including Clint Dempsey and Daniel Sturridge, whilst also letting Andy Carroll go out on loan to West Ham. Rodgers had dismissed recalling Carroll in January, but is sure to be looking for some striking reinforcements in the next transfer window.
Javier Hernandez has emerged as an £8m summer transfer target for Italian side Fiorentina. The Manchester United striker has slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford with the signing of Robin Van Persie and could soon be looking for pastures new.
Fiorentina, who are seeking a return to Champions League football, and are willing to offer the Mexican international the same wages he gets in Manchester of £80,000 a week.
Harry Redknapp has denied he is looking for a swift return to management, saying he is waiting to coach another top club. The former Tottenham boss got the sack this summer, and has been linked to both QPR and the Irish national side this week.
The 65 year old admitted he has had a host of offers, many from abroad, but was willing to bide his time until the right club came along. Despite out of management, Redknapp has not stayed quiet, recently stating that Gareth Bale , who played for him at Spurs, could become as good as the game's two top player, Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi.
