Overview

Defending champion Novak Djokovic was knocked out of the last four of the tournament by Federer on Saturday. The Swiss tennis ace has never won the competition so far and he would be looking to add the Shanghai Masters title to his trophy cabinet.

The former World No 1 is just one win away from lifting the Shanghai Masters title and defeating Djokovic in the semi-final has made him the firm favourite to win the final. In the last fixture, Federer defeated the Serbian comfortably in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

Meanwhile, Simon was unable to manage a comfortable victory over his semi-final opponent Feliciano Lopez. The Frenchman won the first set comfortably 6-2, before taking the second set in a tiebreaker. He won the match 6-2, 7-6.

One cannot rule out Simon's chances of winning the Shanghai Masters, despite Federer being the firm favourite. In the earlier rounds of the tournament, the 29-year-old defeated Stan Wawrinka and Tomas Berdych.
