Nvidia's RTX Spark AI Laptops Cost up to $7,000 as Memory Capacities Rise

Pricing for RTX Spark laptops identified so far ranges from $2,599 (£2,859 UK SRP) to $6,999.99 (UK SRP not announced), with the top-end Asus ProArt P16 packing 128GB of unified memory and 2TB of storage.

The price escalation is clear. The entry-level configurations identified so far offer 24GB of unified memory for $2,599, while a 48GB Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra configuration is listed at $3,999.99 (UK SRP not announced). Asus' flagship ProArt P16 reaches $6,999.99 (UK SRP not announced) with 128GB of memory.

The pricing comes as the PC industry faces elevated memory costs, according to The Verge, or what some in the industry have dubbed 'RAMageddon', adding pressure to machines designed around increasingly demanding artificial intelligence workloads.

That is particularly significant for RTX Spark machines because their local-AI pitch depends heavily on large unified-memory configurations. The most expensive ProArt P16 packs 128GB, meaning buyers are paying for both Nvidia's high-end RTX Spark hardware and unusually large amounts of memory at a time when component costs are already elevated.

Nvidia is positioning the devices for developers, creators and professionals who want to run AI workloads locally.

RTX Spark Prices Rise With Memory

The difference between the entry-level and flagship systems is largely reflected in their memory configurations. RTX Spark uses unified memory, allowing the CPU and GPU to access the same pool instead of relying on separate system RAM and dedicated graphics memory.

That architecture is particularly useful for local AI workloads, where larger models can require substantial amounts of memory.

Microsoft's Surface Laptop Ultra starts at $2,599 (£2,859 UK SRP) with an 18-core processor, 24GB of unified memory and 512GB of storage. Microsoft has confirmed the £2,859 starting price for the UK, with the laptop scheduled to launch on 16 October.

Best Buy lists a 48GB Surface Laptop Ultra configuration at $3,999.99 (UK SRP not announced), showing how the price increases as memory capacity rises.

Asus takes that escalation considerably further with its ProArt P16. The highest-end configuration combines a 20-core processor, 128GB of unified memory and 2TB of storage for $6,999.99 (UK SRP not announced).

ASUS' Flagship Reaches $7,000

The $6,999.99 ProArt P16 is currently the most expensive RTX Spark laptop identified in the range. Asus has confirmed configurations with up to 128GB of unified memory, although it has not announced an official UK SRP for the 128GB/2TB model.

UK retailer Currys lists that configuration at £5,999, but the figure should not be treated as an official Asus UK SRP.

The broader RTX Spark line-up includes laptops from Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and MSI. This pricing puts RTX Spark in the high-end PC market, with the largest memory configurations costing thousands of dollars more than the entry-level models.

RTX Spark Targets Local AI

Nvidia is positioning RTX Spark around local AI computing, giving users access to substantial processing and memory resources without depending entirely on remote servers.

The platform is aimed at developers, creators and professionals who need to run demanding AI models and other intensive workloads directly on a laptop. The unusually large unified-memory configurations are central to that proposition.

The first RTX Spark laptops are expected to launch on 16 October. For buyers, the key question will be whether the additional memory and local AI capabilities justify the jump from $2,599 (£2,859 UK SRP) to $6,999.99 (UK SRP not announced).
