Sony releases Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 23.1.A.0.690 for Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet and Z3 Tablet Compact [FTF links]

Sony has commenced the roll-out of the Android Lollipop software upgrade for three more Xperia line-ups, the Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet and Z3 Tablet Compact, after the software update was earlier released to Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact smartphones.

The Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet and Z3 Tablet Compact will get the Lollipop goodies just like the Z3 smartphones. These include a new look based on Google's material design, new notifications and lock screen, multi user profile and guest mode. The upgrade also offers Xperia users better storage control and customisation with the option to move applications from internal storage to SD card.

Since the update has just started, it will not be available for all users at the moment. The timing and availability might vary depending on the market and carrier.

Those who have not received the update notification, may check out the download files made available by XDA members. Senior forum member pajoneer has posted the FTF download link for the update with Android version 5.0.2 and build number 23.1.A.0.690 seeding for Xperia Z2 D6503 model in the Baltic region.

As for the Xperia Z2 Tablet, the Lollipop firmware is live for both LTE and Wi-Fi variants with model numbers SGP521 and SGP511 respectively, said forum member, Bird40.

Likewise, Wi-Fi 16GB and 32GB models of Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact with model numbers SGP611GB and SGP612GB are not receiving stock firmware 23.1.A.0.690.
