Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact get official Android 5.0.2 Lollipop build 23.1.A.0.690 [FTF links]

Android 5.0.2 for Xperia phones — Sony has confirmed the Android 5.0 Lollipop roll-out for Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact Sony

UPDATE: Sony has released the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet and Z3 Tablet Compact.

Sony has just confirmed the roll-out of the official Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade starting with last year's flagship smartphone Xperia Z3 and its compact version -- the Z3 Compact. The lucky Xperia owners to receive the new Android version are from Nordic and Baltic countries.

Sony has also announced other Z series devices such as Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, Tablet Z, Z1, Z1S, Z Ultra, Z1 Compact, Z2 and Z2 Tablet will receive the update in around two weeks time.

The Android Lollipop firmware brings along the following features for the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact.

Fresh, streamlined looks – based on Google's material design, but retaining our minimalistic approach to interface and application design

New look notifications and lock screen – with fully customizable settings, so you only get the information you really need

Multi user profiles and guest mode – making it easy for family and friends to use your device, or the creation of dual environments for work and play...

Android for Work – not only are business-ready Xperia smartphones and tablets unique devices for work – with waterproof form factors, great battery life and productivity features – they will now also be part of the Android for Work ecosystem

Better storage control and customisation – with the option to easily move applications from internal memory to SD card – giving you more control over your content, particularly useful for devices with slightly less space

To check the availability of the update head over to Settings>> About phone>> Software updates>> System updates.

A number of XDA forum members have reportedly received the update which brings Android version 5.0.2 and build number 23.1.A.0.690. The members have put out the FTF download links for both Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact.

If the update has not arrived in your region, you can use the download links and flash them on your Xperia phones using Sony Flash tools. Use the FTF file according to the model number of your device. Flashing incorrect files might brick your device, so please be careful.
