One widely shared clip claimed, 'In the film Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Stanley Kubrick depicted some of the sacrificial rituals performed by the elite, which coincide with what is revealed in the Epstein files.' Such assertions remain unproven, but their reach has expanded rapidly in recent days.

Comparisons have also been drawn between Epstein and Victor Ziegler, the wealthy financier played by Sydney Pollack in Eyes Wide Shut. The character embodies privilege and impunity, traits many believe echo Epstein's real-life persona.

Beyond the sensationalism, historians and filmmakers note that Eyes Wide Shut was based on Arthur Schnitzler's 1926 novella Dream Story, written decades before Epstein rose to prominence.
