Police are investigating a possible murder-suicide following the discovery of two bodies at a house in Greater Manchester.

Police found Yvonne Davies dead with multiple stab wounds at her home in Stockport. Her husband Andrew was found hanged.

A post-mortem is under way to determine cause of death. Police said they are currently not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Davies worked as head of communications and public relations at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, reported the Manchester Evening News. Her colleagues are said to be "absolutely devastated" at the news of her death.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said a police cordon is in place around the address while officers investigate and police patrols have been stepped up in the area.

Detective Superintendent Emily Higham added: "At this time we are making initial enquiries into the death of this man and woman and a post-mortem examination is yet to take place.

"However, at this stage, we do not believe there is any third party involvement and we are not currently looking for anyone in connection with their deaths.

"The community will be understandably shocked therefore we do have extra patrols in the area to offer some reassurance. A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths is now under way."
