Taylor Swift Allegedly Dug a Movie 'Out of the Grave' for Pal Blake Lively in Leaked, Unsealed Text Messages
Leaked texts show Taylor Swift saved Blake Lively's movie project.

The inner workings of Hollywood's most high-profile friendships have been thrust into the public eye following the unsealing of private correspondence. Newly released legal documents have revealed a series of candid text messages reportedly between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively.
These exchanges suggest that Swift played a pivotal role in reviving a cinematic project that Lively feared was dead. The revelation comes amidst ongoing legal scrutiny regarding Lively's professional conduct and her collaborative history with director Justin Baldoni.
Blake Lively Asks Taylor Swift 'A Huge Favor'
Deuxmoi obtained copies of unsealed text messages believed to be between Swift and Lively amid the latter's legal battle with Baldoni. In the exchange, Lively was asking her celebrity pal 'a huge favor.'
She asked Swift to tell the 'doofus' director that she was 'excited for the movie' and that she already read the book and was 'freaking out' about the scene Lively sent her.
'He's a clown and thinks he's a writer now and got this rewrite and told me he appreciates my passion. That's. It,' Lively added.
The Shallows star urged the pop singer to just praise them for what they were doing and give the director credit 'as if he wrote them with me' because 'it will go such a long way.' Then Lively quipped, 'You dug a movie out of a grave once already for me.'
Lively later told Swift 'You were so epically heroic today' because the 'clown' director was reportedly 'falling for all of it.' Then she said that she 'won the lottery because the singer was the 'world's absolute greatest friend ever.'
'I WON THE LOTTERY,' Swift replied. 'You are the COOLEST PERSON IN THE WORLD and you like me!!'
The pop star's involvement was a turning point for the unnamed film. Swift's influence allegedly provided the momentum to revive the project after it faced cancellation.
Netizens Think Swift Saves Lively's 'A Simple Favor'
The lack of specific titles in the texts has sparked intense speculation on social media about which Lively project Swift saved. Many fans and industry insiders point toward the production of A Simple Favor, which stars Lively alongside Anna Kendrick.
Rumours of a cold war between Kendrick and Lively have circulated for years, leading many to believe Swift mediated during a difficult period. Netizens suggest the 'grave' mentioned in the texts refers to the creative gridlock caused by the alleged friction between the two lead actresses.
'Everybody is saying A Simple Favor, ' one commented. Another added, 'That would be my guess too because Blake beefed with Anna.'
However, Paul Feig, who directed the 2018 film and its 2025 sequel Another Simple Favor denied the rumoured feud between the two actresses, clarifying that there was no drama on set.
'Any controversy is good. I'm always like, 'No press is bad press,' he said in an episode of iHeartRadio's Amy & TJ podcast. 'But I just know these people, and I like these people so much that I work with that I want to defend them when somebody is just [telling] blatant lies. It makes me crazy.'
Defensive Dragons and the Fallout of the Baldoni Battle
Swift's loyalty to Lively reportedly extended into the actress's professional disputes with her It Ends with Us co-star, Justin Baldoni. Sources indicate that Swift acted as a 'defensive dragon' for Lively, offering vocal support during their widely publicised creative differences.
However, recent reports suggest the intensity of the legal battle and public backlash has caused a shift in their bond. While they remain close, some insiders claim the relationship has shifted to a more distant friendship as the legal fallout continues, Page Six reported.
In court documents, Baldoni claimed that Lively was taking over It Ends With Us, the Colleen Hoover-adapted film he directed. He claimed that Lively used her connection with Swift to leverage creative control. Sources said the billionaire singer wasn't happy about it.
'She will forever be furious at how Blake quite clearly was using her for clout and leverage in her dealings with Justin. She really hates that Blake would even think like that, let alone write the things she did in that text,' an unnamed source told Page Six in June 2025.
Swift hasn't been seen with Lively for several months already. The two had been friends since 2015, but an insider told People in August 2025 that they 'aren't speaking,' adding Lively's ongoing conflict with Baldoni had 'halted' their friendship.
Previous reports claimed Lively and Ryan Reynolds would not be invited to Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding.
Swift's representative maintained that she had no involvement in Baldoni and Lively's project beyond licensing her song 'My Tears Ricochet' for use in one of the scenes in its trailer.
