Tom Cruise has gone viral after apparently stopping to check on a staff member who was sitting alone and scrolling on her phone, leaving the woman 'in complete shock' at the unexpected encounter.

According to a viral video making rounds on social media, Cruise stopped by to check on a woman staff member before offering a friendly fist bump and walking away, turning an otherwise ordinary break into a moment now spreading rapidly across social media.

The employee shared footage of the brief interaction on her TikTok account, under the username Klementina, explaining that she had simply been 'doomscrolling' when the Hollywood star approached her.

The encounter appears to have been captured by an overhead security-style camera rather than somebody deliberately filming Cruise at close range.

In the footage, the woman can be seen sitting by herself and looking down at her phone. Cruise, who was seemingly passing by the hallway stops and then approaches with other people nearby and appears to check whether she is all right.

The woman responds before Cruise briefly touches her arm, and the two exchange a fist bump. He then continues on his way. Her explanation made the mundane circumstances behind the interaction even more relatable. She indicated that there was nothing seriously wrong and she had simply been caught scrolling on her phone when Cruise noticed her.

She later uploaded the footage to TikTok herself, describing the encounter as leaving her 'in complete shock.'

The clip quickly travelled beyond TikTok, with reposts appearing on Reddit and other platforms on Monday. Some viewers found Cruise's spontaneous check-in unexpectedly sweet, while others questioned whether the seemingly perfectly captured celebrity encounter had been staged or just AI.

The video's unusual camera angle and Cruise appearing at exactly the right moment have prompted some viewers to question its authenticity. However, there is currently no credible evidence establishing that the footage is AI-generated.

The woman seen in the clip appears to be the same person who posted the footage and described the encounter on her TikTok account.
