William Gallas believes that Moussa Dembele will be a great addition to the Tottenham squad, with the 25-year-old already making an impact after his deadline day move.

Dembele scored in his first appearance for Spurs as they drew 1-1 with Norwich before the international break, and the Belgium international is hoping to continue to build on his form as the side prepare to face Reading on 16 September.

Tottenham are keen to post a win on the board and push themselves back into the top four, and while the side are still learning to play with their new signings and without those who have left, Gallas says Dembele has settled in particularly well.

"For his first game, he came on in the second half and that will be good for his confidence," he told the Tottenham website. "He helped us a lot.

"He's a good player, he has a lot of quality, he's still young and it will be good for everyone to play with him."

Gallas has been concentrating on the reasons why Tottenham were unable to defeat Norwich the weekend before last, in a game which Spurs were widely tipped to win comfortably.

And the defender, who made only 18 appearances last season due to injury problems, wants to fight hard to show that Tottenham are worthy of a top four spot once more, after the side cruelly missed out on a Champions League spot last season to trophy winners Chelsea.

"We have to work again for the next game, to improve again. We have to fight," he explained.

"In the Premier League now, when you saw how Norwich played and I would say they played well, they were compact, maybe we didn't play quick. So they had time to come back and be ready for the counter-attack. We have to improve on that."
