Trump 'Fought the Hardest' To Stop the Release of Epstein Files, Former Ally MTG Claims
Marjorie Taylor Greene and Elon Musk allege Trump's involvement in stalling the Epstein files release

US President Trump seemed hesitant to release the Epstein files, but eventually signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which prompted the Department of Justice to release millions of unsealed documents related to Jeffrey Epstein's case. Several individuals, including Elon Musk, claimed that the president wanted to stop the release because he was among those mentioned in the files.
Another former ally shared a similar claim. According to Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former Georgia representative, Trump did his best to prevent the release of the files.
MTG Claims Trump Blocked Transparency On Epstein
Brian Allen, an economics and geopolitics analyst and the founder of AllenInsights, shared a clip of Greene speaking about Trump initially trying to stop the release of the Epstein files. In the short clip, the businesswoman and politician alleged that the fight to keep the controversial files hidden started with the president.
'That fight to release the Epstein files came directly from President Trump,' Greene said. 'I know a lot of people have a hard time with that, but that is the truth. He fought the hardest to stop these files from being released.'
This assertion directly contradicts the public image Trump has cultivated after signing the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law in November 2025. Greene's comments imply that behind the scenes, the former president was deeply invested in keeping the lid on the documents.
Greene and Trump were former allies, but they had a falling out. The administration accused Greene of tipping off protesters when the POTUS visited Joe's Seafood on 9 September 2025. She denied the allegation, calling it an 'absurd dangerous lie'.

Elon Musk: 'The Truth Will Come Out'
Greene's remarks about Trump's stance on the release of Epstein files were not completely surprising. Several individuals had previously claimed that Trump stalled the release of the documents because he didn't want the public to see them in the first place, as his name is in them.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk, a former Trump ally, also made a similar claim. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) in June 2025, the Tesla CEO wrote, '@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.'
In a separate post, Musk added, 'Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.'

Trump: 'It's a Democrat Hoax'
Months before signing the Epstein Transparency Act into law, the POTUS downplayed the significance of the documents, calling them 'boring'. He also said that Epstein was 'dead for a long time' and 'was never a big factor in terms of life', so he didn't understand the fascination of the public with it. However, he was open to sharing the document.
'It's pretty boring stuff,' Trump said. 'It's sordid, but it's boring, and I don't understand why it keeps going. I think really only pretty bad people, including fake news, want to keep something like that going. But credible information? Let them give it — anything that's credible, I would say, let them have it.'
On 22 August 2025, Trump was asked about his stance on the release of the Epstein files, and he doubled down on his view that he would share them with the public. 'I'm in support of keeping it open,' Trump said. He, however, warned that many individuals would be mentioned because Epstein 'knew everybody in Palm Beach'.
'I don't know anything about that, but I have said to Pam (Bondi) and everybody else, give them everything you can give them because it's a Democrat hoax,' Trump added.
Trump Insists Unsealed Documents Prove His Total Innocence
Despite the accusations from Greene and Musk, Donald Trump has maintained a consistently defiant stance regarding the content of the unsealed files. In a recent statement, he appeared unbothered by his mention in the Epstein files.
According to the businessman-turned-politician, if there was anything in the files, it only showed that he wasn't involved in Epstein's illegal activities. Trump claimed the release absolves him from allegations that he was part of Epstein's operation.
'I didn't see it myself, but I was told by some very important people that not only does it absolve me, it's the opposite of what people were hoping, you know, the radical left,' he said.
