The Truth About Jeremy Renner's Ex-Wife Saying He Tried To Kill Her: 'It's Just Click Bait'
Jeremy Renner Addresses False Allegations and Highlights the Importance of Truth in Public Life

American actor Jeremy Renner is best known for playing Clint Barton—better known as Hawkeye—in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in The Avengers films and related TV spin-offs. With a long and successful acting career, he earned critical acclaim for his role as a bomb disposal specialist in the war drama The Hurt Locker. He also fronts the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown. Recently, however, Renner has been making headlines for far less flattering reasons.
Jeremy Renner has publicly dismissed claims made by his former wife, Sonni Pacheco, suggesting he threatened to kill her, describing such reports as misleading and false. Pacheco, born on 21 March 1988 in Canada, is a model and an actress recognised for her roles in The Wingman and American Pie Presents: The Book of Love. She and Renner divorced in 2014.
This issue resurfaced amid ongoing custody arrangements and media speculation surrounding their relationship. Despite the allegations, Renner maintains he and Pacheco have a civil relationship, and he dismisses the accusations as clickbait.
In 2019, media reports highlighted a custody dispute between Renner and Pacheco. Court documents obtained by TMZ revealed that Pacheco accused the actor of dangerous drug use, threats of violence, and firing a gun with their daughter Ava present. These claims sparked significant media coverage, with some outlets suggesting a troubling pattern of behaviour. Renner, however, has consistently denied these allegations, describing them as false and harmful.

Renner's Response to the Claims
In an interview with The Guardian, Renner addressed the controversy directly. The 54-year-old actor called the media coverage 'clickbait' and said it hurts his feelings. He explained that such claims are often fabricated and do not reflect his true character or actions. Renner added that these stories dehumanise him and others, and he prefers not to dwell on them.
He also expressed frustration about the impact of false accusations, noting that being wrongfully accused of violent behaviour is distressing for anyone. Despite the allegations, Renner emphasised that he and Pacheco get along well and that their co-parenting arrangements are straightforward. He described their relationship as positive, with Pacheco recently sending him photos of her new baby, Wylder Rayne.
Clarifying the Relationship
Renner stated that he and Pacheco share joint custody of their daughter, Ava, and that their interactions are amicable. He dismissed any notion that their relationship is complicated or tense, describing it as 'lovely' and free of any ongoing conflicts. When asked about public perceptions, Renner maintained that what matters most is their daughter's well-being, not media narratives.
He further explained that legal proceedings related to custody are routine and handled by lawyers, not affecting their personal rapport. Renner highlighted that he prefers to focus on his work and personal life rather than the false stories circulated online.
While media outlets have previously covered allegations of threats and violence, Renner's statements suggest these are unfounded. He asserts that the accusations were part of a larger narrative driven by tabloid interests rather than facts.
As Renner continues his acting career with upcoming projects like Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and the renewed series Mayor of Kingstown, he remains committed to maintaining a normal life away from false narratives.
