Candace Owens Questions Andrew Kolvet's Call: Why Did He Warn Her At The Hospital?

Conservative commentator Candace Owens has intensified her public criticism of key figures surrounding Charlie Kirk's final days, claiming she received a puzzling phone call from Andrew Kolvet, the executive producer of Kirk's show, while she was in the hospital.
Owens says Kolvet urged her and Tucker Carlson to 'lay low,' a warning she now views as suspicious and poorly explained.
Owens argues the timing of the call raises troubling questions about transparency inside Turning Point USA (TPUSA), framing it as part of what she calls a broader pattern of withheld information and internal inconsistencies following Kirk's fatal shooting.
Owens Says Kolvet's Call Felt 'Strange' And Poorly Explained
In a series of social media posts, Owens said the warning arrived 'at a moment of extreme vulnerability,' adding that she has since been left wondering why Kolvet was cautioning her rather than offering clarity.
She alleges the incident forms part of a larger breakdown in communication within TPUSA immediately after Kirk's death, with insiders giving conflicting accounts of Kirk's final messages, donor conflicts, and internal pressures.
Owens' remarks have fuelled speculation among her followers, though no independent outlet has corroborated her claims about the call.
Kolvet Confirms Texts, Denies Public Disclosure
Kolvet confirmed in a video released on October 7 that he shared a screengrab of Kirk's private group chat messages that Owens later published.
According to Newsweek, Kolvet said the messages were 'authentic' and that he had not made them public because they were originally private.
In that same interview, he described Kirk's views about Israel as 'complicated and nuanced,' saying that Kirk expressed frustration and doubt rather than a clean break.
Donor Pressure And Conflicting Narratives
In her public statements, Owens has claimed that Kirk faced intense pressure from Jewish donors in the days before his death, suggesting a link between his evolving views and his fatal shooting.
According to Anadolu Agency, she referenced screenshots allegedly from a nine-member chat group in which Kirk said, 'Just lost another huge Jewish donor. $ 2 million a year because we won't cancel Tucker.'
Kolvet has not denied the substance. He told Newsweek that he circulated the screenshot to some government officials due to the gravity of the situation, but did not go public initially.
Critics Push Back
Not everyone in Kirk's circle has supported Owens' framing. Rob McCoy, a pastor closely associated with Kirk, publicly rebuked Owens.
According to Premier Christian News, he urged her to show 'the same loyalty Kirk showed her' and criticised what he described as conspiratorial speculation.
The Independent also reported McCoy saying that Kirk 'never operated nor entertained gossip or innuendo' about Owens.
Meanwhile, Kolvet has addressed the controversial physical details surrounding Kirk's death. As reported by Hindustan Times, Kolvet said a surgeon told him Kirk's bone density was unusually high, which may explain why the bullet that struck him did not produce a typical exit wound.
Why This Matters
Owens' allegations come amid a broader debate over the circumstances of Charlie Kirk's killing, and her questioning of Kolvet's motives taps into deeper tensions within conservative media circles.
If true, her account of a hospital warning raises ethical as well as political concerns--especially given the grief, disorientation, and fear that followed Kirk's death.
For her part, Owens has framed the call not just as a procedural or logistical issue but as a symptom of a larger problem: a lack of transparency, even among people she once considered allies.
Kolvet says he acted in good faith, citing his commitment to preserving private conversations and protecting Kirk's trust. But Owens, emboldened by her public profile, is demanding answers — and the public is watching closely.
