Jim Henson's family TV show The Muppets returns with a contemporary, documentary-style reboot series which will premiere on Tuesday 22 September at 8pm ET on ABC Network. The series will explore the personal and professional lives of the Muppets characters as Kermit and gang produce a late night talk show.
The pilot episode is titled, Pig Girls Don't Cry, where Fozzie Bear meets his girlfriend's parents who will not approve of their relationship. Click here to watch the episode via live stream on ABC and you can watch the episode online by clicking here. The official synopsis reads as follows:
Kermit the Frog acts as the executive producer of Up Late with Miss Piggy and Elizabeth Banks is their first guest star. According to ABC, "for the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for "kids" of all ages."
The Muppets will interact with several guest stars in the show including Elizabeth Banks, Reese Witherspoon, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Groban, who will play Piggy's love interest. Previously, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy announced they had "consciously uncoupled" after being together for more than three decades. The pair revealed the news during a Television Critics Association event while promoting their upcoming ABC series in August.
According to People Magazine, Kermit has already moved on from the diva, and is reportedly dating head of marketing at ABC named Denise. The Muppets stars Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, The Great Gonzo, Pepe the King Prawn, Rizzo, Scooter, Rowlf the Dog and The Electric Mayhem.
