Creator Chris Carter told E News that the sci-fi series will end on a cliffhanger. He said, "I don't think it's it for Mulder and Scully, but I have to say, there's no guarantee that we're coming back. So, while I see Mulder and Scully and stories down the way, we end up on a very big cliff [Cliffhanger]."

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson previewed the season finale in a promo video. The promo opens with Mulder showing up at Cigarette-Smoking Man's place and places his gun to his forehead and says, "You sent for me. I am here."

Duchovny said, "It was interesting when Chris [Carter] reconceived this mini-series, he kind of twisted the old story which was .. there was this small Cabal of humans amongst them was the Cigarette-Smoking Man, who was in league with this Aliens, that were going to come back at some point and colonise the Earth."

"This time around it's somewhat different," Duchovny said and Anderson added, "This conspiracy is the conspiracy of Men." Then, the former explained, "The same Cabal of Men have taken alien technology and are going to use it themselves to enslave the rest of the humanity."

According to Anderson, "In the end of the event series... everything leads up to this really amazing climax." Do not miss the nail-biting finale of The X-Files miniseries this Monday on Fox.
