Multiple law enforcement agencies have descended on a synagogue in a Detroit suburb following reports of an active shooter.
Officers are currently clearing Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, while surrounding Jewish facilities have been placed under a precautionary lockdown amid the ongoing security response.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a large-scale operation is underway at the Reform Jewish congregation. According to the sheriff's office, emergency personnel are actively inside the facility and 'clearing the building'.
In conjunction with the county-level response, the West Bloomfield Police Department issued an urgent public alert, directing local residents to avoid the vicinity entirely while the operation continues.

Addressing the developing situation on social media, the Jewish Federation of Detroit stated it was closely monitoring the 'active security incident' at Temple Israel.

'Law enforcement are responding,' the organisation said in its public statement. 'Our Jewish agencies are currently in precautionary lockdown. We ask community members to stay away from the area at this time.'
Meanwhile, the Michigan State Police Second District has formally acknowledged the reported shooting incident. In response, state troopers have increased their patrols around other places of worship within the district as a protective measure.
