Transformers 5
Paramount had previously revealed Decepticon leader Megatron's return in Transformers: The Last Knight Paramount Pictures

After months of silence, Paramount Pictures and Michael Bay are teasing fans about Transformers 5, which is scheduled to premiere in 2017. The franchise is the live-action adaptation of the popular comic book series and Hasbro toys and the plot has always been about Autobot leader Optimus Prime and Decepticon head Megatron.

The fifth sequel of the science-fiction franchise is titled Transformers: The Last Knight and to fans amusement, Bay shared the first spoiler himself with the arrival of Megatron. Two days back, the director of the movie also shared the new refined look of Bumble Bee.

However, there is no news about Optimus Prime yet from the filmmakers and fans are wondering why the lead Autobot's new look has been kept a secret so far. As of now, the premise of the upcoming sequel starring Mark Wahlberg is unknown but one thing is certain, the mysterious Creators will play a vital role in shaping the story arch.

A hint can be taken from Prime's final speech in Transformers 4, when he asked his gang of Autobots to defend Cade Yeager and his family and jets off to outer space. He also asked Cade to "look to the stars, think of one of them as my soul" whenever he missed Prime.

"There are mysteries to the universe we were never meant to solve. But who we are, and why we are here are not among them. Those answers we carry inside. I am Optimus Prime and this message is to my Creators. Leave planet earth alone, because I am coming."

In Age of Extinction, Optimus fought and defeated rogue bounty hunter Lockdown and Galvatron, a hybrid made with the deceased Megatron's brain and the transformers metal. But in the process, the human-friendly Optimus learned that the Creators wanted to make the human race extinct.

It is possible that his first look has been kept a secret by Paramount Pictures as he serves a vital link to the Creators, the newly-resurrected Megatron and the humans on Earth.

Chief writer of the movie Akiva Goldsman had earlier hinted at excavating the mythology of the comic books and Hasbro toys to frame the plot.

According to the comic book series, Primus created thirteen Primes to battle his twin and ancient enemy Unicorn and both Optimus and Megatron belong to the Aligned Thirteen, where the latter turned towards darkness and was known as The Fallen.

Hence, it makes sense to speculate that Optimus will find the Creators and confront them about his origin and to counter his immense powers, they will resurrect Megatron.

Transformers 5 has Steven Spielberg as the executive producer and is expected to premiere in 2017.
