Tributes have been paid to the 13-year-old girl who was killed when her family car collided with a vehicle being chased by police.

Wiktoria Was died when the car in which she was travelling with her mum, dad and brother was hit in New Cross, south-east London by a car involved in a chase with police.

Wiktoria, a student at Goffs School in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, was described by her friends as a "flawless angel" and the "little star" of the group Dance Crew, with whom she performed at her school.

Headteacher Alison Garner said the school was in shock and the 13-year-old, known as Wiki to her friends, would be "much missed" by pupils and staff.

Garner wrote a letter to pupils, saying: "I have today spoken with all of Year 9 and arranged for Wiktoria's form to be talked to separately in their form group.

"The school counsellor will be available at least this week for students and staff, and we will be encouraging students to think about how they would like to remember Wiktoria, eg via a tree, bench, and memorial assembly etc, once the initial shock has subsided.

"Wiktoria was a highly valued member of our community and will be much missed by us all."

A YouTube video was created by her friends which said: "Wiki was a beautiful, intelligent girl who had the most amazing blue eyes that I couldn't get over and she had the cutest smile."

Devon Newell, 32, from Peckham, has been charged with five offences including causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and failing to stop for police.

He is also charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving with no insurance or licence. He has appeared before Camberwell green magistrates via a video link. No plea was entered and he was remanded in custody to appear at Woolwich Court Court on 15 January.

Her parents and brother were taken to hospital following the crash. The mother and boy were later discharged.

The father remains in hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening.
