Lenovo's purported Vibe S1 could be the first smartphone in the world to feature dual front cameras Reuters

Chinese smartphone brand Lenovo, which launched the budget flagship K3 Note in March, is now reportedly set to release a new flagship featuring dual cameras in the front. This handset is said to be the Vibe S1 that had surfaced via leaked images earlier in the year.

Lenovo's purported Vibe S1 could hold the distinction of being the first smartphone in the world to offer dual selfie cameras. Known technology tipster Upleaks, via Twitter, has stated that the Vibe S1 handset will indeed feature two cameras in the front, without revealing the exact key technical specs that the smartphone could feature.

However, earlier leaks have hinted at possible key hardware aspects of Lenovo Vibe S1. This smartphone has also succeeded in obtaining a Tenaa certification in China, as per a report published in PhoneArena. This could indicate that the device would be available in China first before expanding to other parts of the world.

With Lenovo Vibe S1 apparently certified by Tenaa, the device can be expected to be available in the country first before expanding to other parts of the world.

The rumoured technical specs of Lenovo Vibe S1 indicate that the device will be a pure mid-ranger, designed to cater to buyers on a shoestring budget. The leaked key technical specs of the handset include:

  • 5in 1080p display
  • Android 5.0 (Lollipop) operating system out of the box
  • 1.7 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor
  • 13MP rear camera with LED flash
  • Dual front cameras
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot for expansion of internal storage
  • LTE, HSPA, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and microUSB connectivity

Lenovo Vibe S1's pricing details have not surfaced at this point in time.

Currently, another of Lenovo's Vibe series of smartphones, the Vibe X2 is receiving the Android 5.0 OS update across the world.
