After months of sitting tight, British Marvel fans will not have to wait for much longer before Agent Carter hits their screens, as it is finally confirmed that the show is coming to the UK.
Not only has Agent Carter been renewed for a second season by ABC, which will air in the US sometime in 2016, but having acquired the rights to the show earlier this year, Fox UK announced that they will air the 8-part first season as early as 1 July of this year.
Despite the title character being played by English actress Hayley Atwell, as well as two supporting roles being portrayed by fellow Brits, Mamma Mia's Dominic Cooper and Broadchurch's James D'Arcy, the American roots of the story saw US audiences get the pleasure of watching the first season of Agent Carter way back in January, whilst fans of the character across the pond had no choice but to be jealous.
For those who have waited patiently for the show to watch it legitimately, here's an example of what you can look forward to:
What with Daredevil taking Netflix by storm in April and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D currently on its third season, the television side of the Marvel Universe doesn't show any signs of slowing down, and clearly Agent Carter is no exception to the trend.
The TV spin-off sees Atwell, acting in her role as Peggy Carter first seen in Captain America: The First Avenger and then reprised in small cameos in sequel The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age Of Ultron, the series has been critically acclaimed worldwide and swiftly became a fan favourite soon after its pilot episode was broadcast.
The 1940s-set series follows Atwell's character as she works as a spy for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) as she simultaneously juggles dealing with life after Steve Rogers (Captain America) and her chauvinistic co-workers.
Speaking excitedly about their recently acquired show, Jeff Ford – Managing Director of FOX International Channels UK stated: "Marvel's Agent Carter is blockbuster Hollywood entertainment at its best.
"With high production values and a stellar UK and international cast, the series is the perfect addition to FOX UK's summer line up, continuing the channel's commitment to bring exclusive, original and breakthrough series to a UK audience."
