Amid reports that Amitabh Bachchan will have to undergo another surgery to set right complications following Saturday's abdominal operation, Junior Bacchan is staying close to his father. Media reports said the veteran actor was in intense pain.

"Morning spent with pa at hospital, then at NASCOMM in the afternoon. Back to hospital where, despite his pain, Sr Bachchan is cracking jokes. Guess he said it true in his film mard ko dard nahin hota! Legend," Abhishek posted on Twitter.

Quoting his father's dialogues from the movie "Mard", Abhishek said that his father was fighting back bravely.

Amitabh Bachchan, surrounded by his family and friends, is at the Seven Hills Hospital, Mumbai, the same hospital where Big B's daughter-in-law and leading actress Aishwarya Rai gave birth to a baby girl recently.

More doctors have been called in for consultation as Bachchan tweeted that his hospital stay might be a prolonged affair.

"Some more tests... more unpronounceable medication...and... another visit to the OT... operation theatre! Going to be a long stay," the actor tweeted, without giving details. "I have no idea now how long this will take, but it does look as though it will be long... thank you for your prayers and love," he added.

Keeping in touch with millions of his fans, Bachchan took solace in family and friends: "Wonderful feeling to see old friends drop by the hospital... we may not meet at work, but when either in trouble... they are there... To those who pray and wish recovery for me, God bless and thank you for thinking of me so fervently... Shweta's wedding anniversary today, but she stayed back to be by my side... daughters are the best... Abhishek returns from Jaipur shoot to be with us...greatest joy for parents is the love of their children...all else comes afterwards," he tweeted.
