Arsenal have completed the signing of Nigerian starlet Kelechi Nwakali from Diamond Football Academy in Nigeria. This is the Gunners' fourth signing of the summer, having already finalised deals for Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding and Takuma Asano earlier in the window.

The 18-year-old captained his national team to win the U-17 World Cup in Chile last year and is recognised as one of the best talents to come out of the continent. He won the player of the tournament award in Chile and the Gunners will be hoping that he can live up to his potential when he puts on the Arsenal first team shirt at a later date in his career.

ASJ Academy CEO Emeka Amajiriaku confirmed that the deal had been signed earlier in the week, but admitted that Arsenal are yet to decide on whether to retain the midfielder to play with the developmental sides at the club or send him out on loan to gain first-team experience. The midfielder is not short of fitness as he was recently involved with the Super Eagles' U20 side at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

"Arsenal will determine if he will go on loan or play for the U18s, U21s (Development squad) or first team. We cannot determine that. The contract is for five years and they are in London to sign the contract," Amajiriaku told allnigeriasoccer.com.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he is still active in the market and is still trying to strengthen his defence and attack with almost a month still to go in the transfer market. The Gunners are without Per Mertesacker for the next few months and are woefully short up front with Olivier Giroud unlikely to be available for their opening game against Liverpool after his travails at the Euros.

"It's not the prices, it's the players. At the moment I'm focused on the players we have. Today we didn't have Ramsey, Xhaka, Alexis- he will play on Sunday. We still have Ozil at home, and Giroud and Koscielny too. We also have young players who came on and did well. We do not have to panic but we are on alert in the transfer market so that we can make the right move when the opportunity comes up," Wenger told Arsenal's official website.
