The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced its 29th annual Pop Music Awards in Los Angeles. However, the highlight of the evening was a wardrobe malfunction for pop artist Katy Perry.

Apparently the singer wore a floor-length gown but without a bra. Therefore, when one of the straps slipped off her shoulder... well, it created a bit of a furore. Interestingly, the star was promoting her album "The Part of Me" at the time.

Meanwhile, at the awards, Max Martin was named the ASCAP Pop Music Songwriter of the Year for the fifth time in his career... Bruno Mars collected the ASCAP Pop Song of the Year award for "Just The Way You Are" and the Dual ASCAP Publisher of the Year honours went to EMI Music Publishing and Warner/Chappell, who each had 18 of the most performed songs of 2011.

In addition, Trent Reznor received the ASCAP Golden Note Award, Katy Perry and her production team (which includes Martin, Ammo and Dr. Luke) were recognised for her five 2011 chart-toppers and Peter Frampton was given the ASCAP Global Impact recognition.

"That compliment means a lot to me [because] song writing is a thing that I feel like I'm just getting started. I'm really starting to get the hang of it but every day is a new lesson. I'm a student here and to receive this kind of acknowledgment, it feels nice," Reznor told the Hollywood Reporter.

According to the Celebrity Cafe, in recent years Reznor has moved into the film-scoring world and has worked on David Fincher's "The Social Network" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". He won an Oscar for the first film.

"His greatest gift is the beating heart and the core of his music," Paul Williams, ASCAP President, said about Reznor.

On a side note, Perry has changed her hair colour to purple after the split from her husband Russell Brand. However, according to New York Daily News, there are reports she is trying for reconcilement.

"Katy's been trying to get him back! She's a lost soul right now," a source told the US Weekly.
