Cesar Azpilicueta has claimed that Cesc Fabregas will be welcomed at Chelsea as the current squad miss a player like him.

Reports in Spain claim the Barcelona midfielder is set to complete his €33m move to Stamford Bridge imminently, while manager Jose Mourinho recently confirmed his interest in the player.

"I'm interested to look at his situation. I think he is eager to leave Barcelona and very motivated by the idea of returning to England. I think that is pretty clear" Mourinho said.

"After that, whether he signs for us or someone else is not a question for today, tomorrow or before the World Cup. We are interested to see how the situation evolves."

Now Azpilicueta, who is currently training alongside Fabregas with Spain, says he would be delighted to play with him at Chelsea.

"He is a special player, very few teams have that kind of player. His stats are there, he adapts well to various positions ... today at Chelsea we do not have a player like that," Azpilicueta told Marca.

"There is nothing official, Cesc is still a Barcelona player. All I can say is that I know him well and he is a great midfielder. He has great experience in the Premier League and big players are always welcome at the club."

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres also claimed that the Barcelona star would be a great addition for the Blues.

"He is a kind of player that Chelsea don't have at the moment. Great players are always great signings. We know him well, he was one of the best players in the Premier League while playing for Arsenal and is a player who brings a lot to the team," Torres said.

"He is a player who brings ball control and goals. If he feels important, if he feels like a leader he proved at Arsenal that he can lead a squad."
