WWE has polled its fans over the tag champions they want to see make a return to the sports entertainment giant, and the results are fascinating.

Does this mean that the fed is actively looking to bring back some veterans to boost up its tag roster? The poll does show that these names haven't been forgotten completely in Stamford, but fans shouldn't have their hopes too high.

The poll asks, "Which former tag team Champions would you most like to see return?"

Batista and Rey Mysterio led the poll with 37%, ahead of by Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas (27%). The New Age Outlaws (11%), Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov (5%), and La Resistance (3%) rounded out the top five at press time.

It is no surprise that Batista and Mysterio are top as they were very popular as both a team and solo acts back in the day.

Mysterio was arguably the greatest luchador in WWE history and regularly defeated opponents double his size. Batista was known as "The Animal" and brutalised competitors every time he stepped into the ring.

These two superstars came together as tag team partners and won the belts in 2005. They also had a brief feud against The Big Show and Kane.

Polls show the fans clearly want them to return to the company, but a reunion is no certainty. Batista is currently enjoying a career in Hollywood and last featured in a WWE ring in 2014.

Similarly, Mysterio has been absent for a number of years and is currently the lynchpin of Lucha Underground.
