Beyonce criticised by Wendy Williams for releasing Lemonade right after Prince's death, show host calls Rachel a promotion ploy Getty

Popular daytime talk show host Wendy Williams has launched herself in the midst of the Beyonce-Rachel Roy drama. The 51-year-old TV personality has claimed that the recent controversy regarding "Jay Z cheating on Beyonce with Rachel Roy" was just one big promotion gimmick.

According to Williams, Rachel has been paid by Queen Bey and husband Jay Z to create infidelity rumours post the launch of the songstress's latest music album titled, Lemonade.

"Rachel Roy, first of all, you're not this fighting girl unless you're on Jay Z and Beyonce's payroll, and they paid you to mix it up to add, I guess, sales for Lemonade," said the TV personality on her show on 25 April.

Williams said that the possible culprit for the entire controversy was strong references to disloyalty in marriage and "Becky with the good hair" in the track titled, Sorry, from the album. Ever since the launch of the album, Beyonce's fans have been eagerly tracking down "Becky", and when Roy insinuated that she could be the mistress with the "good hair", the internet sure went on an overdrive.

The talk show host used the opportunity to take digs at the beehive that almost attacked Ray – celebrity chef confused with designer Roy – with hate messages. "Similar name but not the same thing. Like, leave this white lady alone!" Williams said. And poking fun at Ray she added, "Rachael is no dumbbell. She used the moment to put out a delicious recipe for lemonade!"

With her skeptic cap on, Williams targeted the Formation singer for the strategic timing of the launch of her latest album. "Quite frankly, I wish Beyonce had held off on the album after Prince. Like, the weekend had blown over," she stressed.
