Blackberry CLassic

In what comes as wonderful news to BlackBerry users around the globe, keyboard shortcuts are now coming back with the BlackBerry Classic, according to a report by PhoneArena.

In the past, users of older Blackberry smartphones could use these shortcuts to tap or double tap on a single key to get something to happen. However, with the introduction of Blackberry 10, these features were taken away, with the company trying to mimic the typing experience seen on Android and iOS smartphones.

This time, instead of the good old double tap of the spacebar to add a period, users will have the opportunity to create their own shortcuts by using long presses. For example, users will be able to create a shortcut to call up an app, write a new message, or call a frequently dialled number.

The new shortcuts are expected to make a debut with the Blackberry Classic, before making their way to other models that qualify for the BlackBerry 10.3.1 update.

Here are a few leaked screenshots of the new shortcut system.
