Xbox One users hoping to play the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 multiplayer beta are running into trouble, with many unable to register their codes to download the taster for what's to come from Treyarch and Activision's latest shooter.

Xbox Live's status page has acknowledged the issue, saying: "Are you having issues redeeming Beta 5×5 tokens for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3? That's no good. But rest assured, our team is assembled and we're hard at work trying to get this fixed. Thanks for your patience while we work. We'll update you on our progress when we know more."

The problem appears to be on Microsoft's end as the status page says the registration problem extends to Xbox Live subscription codes as well. The Call of Duty Twitter account has acknowledged the problem as well, which has persisted since the beta went live at midnight earlier today (Wednesday 26 August). As of 2:30pm BST the problem remains.

On PlayStation 4 the multiplayer beta (which ended on Monday 24 August) ran smoothly from the off and was considered a success. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launches on 6 November for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
