KEY POINTS

  • Toni Kroos and Alvaro Morata will also miss the game due to injury.
  • Los Blancos visit Cristiano Ronaldo's childhood side following a 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid.

Casemiro, Pepe, Toni Kroos and Alvaro Morata will all remain on the sidelines when Real Madrid visit Sporting CP on Tuesday night (22 November) due to injuries. The first two names are expected to be available soon, but Zinedine Zidane has opted to leave them out of his travelling squad for the Champions League encounter.

Los Blancos visit Cristiano Ronaldo's childhood side in buoyed spirits after beating cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid 3-0 on Saturday. They are now four points clear of Barcelona after the Catalans were held to a goalless draw by Malaga.

However, Real Madrid will be desperate for victory in Portugal after the shock draw with Legia Warsaw dented their chances of qualifying for the Champions League last 16 as Group F leaders. They are currently two points behind Borussia Dortmund.

Casemiro, Pepe, Kroos and Morata all missed the Madrid derby due to various injuries, and will continue in the treatment room when their teammates visit the Jose Alvalade Stadium on Tuesday night.

Zidane has named the same squad that beat Atletico Madrid on Saturday for the Champions League clash. The players travelled to Portugal on Monday morning to prepare for the crucial game.

However, it is still uncertain whether the French boss will stick to the same starting eleven after both Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos failed to make the starting line-up for the derby. The striker and captain had only returned from injury last week and Zidane opted for Lucas Vazquez and Nacho instead.

The decision paid off as Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick gave Real Madrid a comfortable win but, after Benzema came on in the second half, he could be ready to start on Tuesday night.
