Jim Davidson
The comedian is famous for presenting shows including The Generation Game and Big Break.

Jim Davidson will not be appearing in the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother following his arrest for alleged sexual offences.

The 59-year-old comedian was arrested at Heathrow airport by detectives in Operation Yewtree, the police investigation into the Jimmy Savile abuse claims. Davidson was arrested under the heading of "Others".

He was scheduled to enter the Big Brother house with the other contestants on Thursday night.

Davidson, who was bailed without charge, denied the claims against him.

"Two women have made allegations in respect of Jim that date back approximately 25 years. The complainants were then in their mid 20s," his lawyer, Henri Bradman, said.

"Jim vigorously denies the allegations. He answered police questions as fully as he was able after this passage of time.

"He has not been charged with any offence. Neither he nor I will be making any further comment," Bradman added.

According to reports, Celebrity Big Brother bosses have altered the line-up and former footballer Neil Ruddock is understood to be Davidson's last-minute replacement.

Davidson, famed for his controversial comic act, previously has programmes such as Big Break and The Generation Game.
