A report has suggested that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red is hoping to release its next game, Cyberpunk 2077, by the end of 2016. The game is a science fiction role playing game based on the world created by Mike Pondsmith that was first announced back in 2012.

Gamereactor Germany (via Gamereactor.eu) cites a source "close to the Polish developer" saying that CD Projekt hopes to publish the game late next year. However, in May 2015 CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski told Reuters: "This year, and the next one will be the years of the Witcher." This hinted that fans wouldn't hear much about Cyberpunk 2077, until 2017. "We hope and we are certain that Cyberpunk has even bigger commercial potential. It is too early to talk about it, though," he continued.

A second expansion for The Witcher 3, called Blood and Wine, is set for release in the first half 2016, which will be a focus during those few months. However, in November CD Projekt lead designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz said that the studio is "focusing" on Cyberpunk.

"We are focusing on Cyberpunk 2077. It is a very ambitious and big project, and we need all the people we can get to finish it. A lot of the people in the company are [working on it], and more and more are getting involved in it... most people from the company are involved with this," he said.
