Drake has paid the ultimate homage to his former Young Money labelmate Lil Wayne by getting a tattoo of the rapper on his arm.

Evidently proud of his latest ink, Drake, 30, wore a jersey while attending the Houston Appreciation Weekend, leaving the portrait of Lil Wayne's face displayed on his left tricep. The One Dance rapper even unsubtly flaunted the portrait of his She Will collaborator in an Instagram picture taken at the three-day event, which he hosted.

The tattoo received mixed reactions from fans with one Instagram user critiquing: "That doesn't look like Wayne."

Offering some constructive criticism, another weighed in: "Would be dope if your tattoos were actually well organised on your arm."

One other admitted: "I don't know how I feel about this tattoo Drake got."

Some were impressed with Drake's tribute, including one who applauded the bromance stating: "If that's not friendship I don't know what is."

Another fan joked: "Drake got a tattoo of lil Wayne's face on his arm and my friends can't even answer my texts."

Praising Lil Wayne's lyrical talents, another enthused: "Well of course Wayne's da goat and arguably the most influential rapper ever. He was the first legit rap rock star. Almost everybody in the game stole his formula, tattoo image, dreads, and the double cup image he did back in 07. The reason we drop mixtapes before albums is pretty much cuz of weezy. He's a icon hater or love it."

Lil Wayne, 34, is not the only person Drake has tattooed on his body – the Canadian rapper has an image of late musician Aaliyah, two of soul singer Sade and ones of his mother and father inked around his body.

Drake and Lil Wayne may have a turbulent relationship with their former YMCMB record label boss Birdman, but the pair have remained close after nearly 10 years of friendship.

When Lil Wayne suggested he may be retiring in 2016, Drake wrote a touching message on Instagram, which read: "We are fighting until you get yours. Freedom to drop music and peace of mind. I don't know what these other weirdos are on with all the side talks but I know you gave me a shot and all I can ever do with the rest of my life is return the favour."
