Australian political activist and influencer Drew Pavlou was deported from the US after flying to the country to fulfil his previous post about moving into Billie Eilish's mansion in Los Angeles. This incident follows Eilish's Grammys acceptance speech earlier this month, where she declared that 'no one is illegal in stolen land.'

Pavlou seized on the remark, launching a crowdfunding campaign to travel to California and stage what he described as a performance-art protest. But upon landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), he was stopped by immigration officials and sent back to Australia.

Pavlou's Stunt Meets US Immigration

Earlier this month, 24-year-old political activist and influencer Pavlou announced that he will be moving into Eilish's Malibu mansion, following the Grammy winner's remarks that 'no one is illegal in stolen land.'

Pavlou launched a crowdfunding campaign to be able to fly to the US and fulfil his goal. However, upon arriving at LAX, he was stopped by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and was deported back to Australia.

In an X post, Pavlou shared his experience and accused Eilish of being behind his deportation, claiming she contacted the DHS to stop him from moving into her house. He said, 'Billie Eilish got me deported from the US - I think her legal team contacted DHS.'

Pavlou shared that he spent 30 hours at LAX immigration trying to explain his intentions. 'I spent 30 hours at LAX immigration trying to explain that my shit posts were just a joke and that I didn't actually plan to personally move into her mansion,' he wrote.

He added that the agents he talked to were 'nice and laughed at the idea', but ultimately denied him entry. Pavlou later speculated that Eilish's lawyers had compiled a dossier on him, noting that officials questioned him about his activism against the Chinese government.

Pavlou concluded, 'I suffered for my art as an online shitposter,' adding that he was victimised and martyred by the singer.

Crowdfunding Campaign and Posts that Led to Deportation

On 2 February, Pavlou posted a video on X announcing his plan: 'Exciting news: I've decided to move into Billie Eilish's $6 million Malibu beachfront mansion because no human being is illegal on stolen land. Thank you Billie for your generosity.'

It was followed by another post where he shared a link to a GoFundMe campaign. He wrote: 'I am flying to the USA next Friday to attempt to move into Billie Eilish's beachside Malibu mansion. No human being is illegal on stolen land. Support my travel and filming costs here.' The link was later removed after the company said it could not verify his connection to the cause.

Pavlou then launched a new fundraiser asking for roughly £2,082 ($2,840) to fly to California and live in the singer's Malibu home. However, reports note that the said mansion had been destroyed in the deadly Palisades Fire, a detail that Pavlou appeared unaware of when he solicited for the funds.

Eilish has not commented publicly on Pavlou's claims. The singer, who won a Grammy earlier this month, has faced scrutiny over her remarks about immigration and land rights, but there is no evidence to suggest she or her team were directly involved in Pavlou's deportation.
