The Duggar family, once the global face of fundamentalist Christian values through their reality programme '19 Kids and Counting', has faced a series of high-profile legal cases that have substantially altered the family's public standing. Two more members have been arrested and charged in recent weeks, five years after Josh Duggar became the first to face criminal proceedings.

The cases of Josh, Joseph, and Kendra Duggar span charges ranging from possession of child sexual abuse images to child endangerment and molestation, marking a significant legal reckoning for a family that built its profile on faith-based living.

Kendra Duggar Arrested

Kendra Duggar, wife of Joseph, was taken into custody on charges of endangering a minor's welfare. She was arrested and held at the Washington County Detention Center, later released on a $1,470 (approximately £1,160) bond.

The arrest came two days after her husband, Joseph, was taken into custody for allegedly molesting a minor. Kendra was charged with four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment. She and Joseph share four children, though the family has not publicly confirmed details of their youngest.

'This remains an active and ongoing investigation,' the Arkansas police department said in a statement, adding that 'no further details will be provided' as the case involves minors.

Joseph Duggar Serving Time in Jail

Joseph Duggar faces charges of allegedly molesting a nine-year-old girl in 2020 during a family holiday in Florida. According to the police report, Joseph asked the victim to sit on his lap and touched her inappropriately, reportedly admitting the conduct and apologising when confronted by the victim's father.

He was charged with lewd and lascivious behaviour involving a victim younger than 12 and lewd and lascivious behaviour conducted by a person 18 years or older. He is currently held in an Arkansas facility while awaiting further court dates.

Josh Duggar: The First Conviction

Josh Duggar was convicted in 2021 of downloading child sexual abuse images. Prior to his arrest, he had also been implicated in a separate molestation scandal involving four of his sisters, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, and Joy-Anna, during their teenage years.

In 2015, Josh attracted further scrutiny following a data breach of the infidelity website Ashley Madison, which revealed he had held multiple accounts on the platform while married to Anna, with whom he had four children at the time. The couple went on to have three more. Josh and Anna are parents to Mackynzie, Michael, Marcus, Meredith, Mason, Maryella, and Madyson.

Where Are the Remaining Duggar Family Members?

Despite the legal proceedings involving several siblings, the majority of the Duggar children continue to reside in Arkansas, living in close proximity to the family compound maintained by their parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, in Tontitown. Jim Bob made an unsuccessful bid for the Arkansas State Senate in 2021 and has since remained active in real estate alongside Michelle.

Jinger Duggar Vuolo is among the more notable departures, having relocated to Los Angeles after marrying Jeremy Vuolo. Jill Dillard has also moved, settling near the Arkansas-Oklahoma border with her husband Derick and their children, while Justin Duggar relocated to Texas following his marriage to Claire Spivey, where the couple live on a ranch.

Jana Duggar, the eldest daughter, married Stephen Wissmann in August 2024 in Arkansas, and the couple welcomed a son, Archie, in December 2025. John-David Duggar, who holds a commercial pilot's licence, remains in Arkansas with his wife Abbie and their three children, the youngest of whom was born in January 2026. Josiah Duggar and his wife, Lauren, who have four children together, also remain in the state.

Among the younger siblings, several are not yet married and continue to live within the family's established community in Arkansas.
