The Bay County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) in Florida said the 31-year-old faces charges of lewd and lascivious behaviour, including molestation of a child under the age of 12. The case was first reported by local news outlets, citing law enforcement officials.

Authorities said the allegations relate to incidents reported to have taken place during a family trip. The suspect has been arrested out of state and is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County.

The sheriff's office said the investigation began after a report was referred by a police detective in Tontitown, Arkansas. During a forensic interview, a 14-year-old complainant alleged that the incidents occurred several years earlier, when she was nine.

Authorities allege that he then engaged in inappropriate physical contact, including manipulating clothing and touching the child.

Officials further stated that the complainant reported the behaviour stopped after an apology. Investigators said the alleged incidents were later disclosed to the complainant's father, who confronted Duggar on 17 March 2026, with authorities stating he admitted to the conduct during that exchange and in discussions with detectives.

The suspect has been charged with multiple offences under Florida law, including lewd and lascivious molestation of a minor under 12 and lewd conduct by an adult.
