Empire season 3 returns from hiatus: Angelo proposes to Cookie in episode 14

Empire season 3 returns from a week-long hiatus on Wednesday (26 April) at 9pm EST on Fox Network. The chapter will feature the introduction of Eva Longoria as Charlotte Frost, who will be romantically involved with Andre.

Also, Angelo will propose to his girlfriend, Cookie, who will be conflicted with her feeling for Lucious. Meanwhile, Nia Long's character Giuliana, who was introduced in the previous episode, will make her moves on Lucious, which will make Cookie jealous.

Meanwhile, showrunner Ilene Chaiken addressed Cookie's dilemma and revealed whether she would move on with Angelo. Addressing the fact that Lucious and Cookie got intimate in the previous episodes, Chaiken told TV Line, "Sex isn't the issue. Betrayal is emotional. It's much more about what's in the heart, what you feel and know about yourself. I don't think it would've been worse had Cookie had sex with Lucious. It was where they both went emotionally.

"There was this undeniable truth that they both confronted when they looked into one another's eyes. That's what shook her. It's not, "Did I cheat on Angelo because I had sex with my ex?" It's, "Can I erase the last 20 years of my life with this man who has such a hold on me? Can I ever move on and become that other person?"

The dilemma will become intense as the promo for this Wednesday's episode features Angelo going down on his knee in front of Cookie holding an engagement ring and says, "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Cookie. Will you marry me?"

The showrunner also admitted that Lucious and Giuliana's past will lead to complications for Cookie. She told the outlet, "That relationship goes much deeper than we're initially led to believe. We're going to find out that maybe there's a connection between these two individuals that will lead to all kinds of complications, for Cookie in particular. It's possibly the most consequential relationship of the rest of the season."
