Former DISA Contractor Claims UAP Sent Strange 'Laser-Like' Energy Into Water During MQ-9 Encounter

A former Defence Information Systems Agency contractor claims he watched a bizarre spherical object moving just feet above the ocean on an MQ-9 drone feed, with the footage appearing to show a strange, laser-like line of energy extending into the water beneath it.

Kevin Campbell, who worked as a SATCOM network engineer for DISA, described the encounter during an episode of the American for Safe Aerospace podcast hosted by Ryan Graves.

Campbell Watched the Object on an MQ-9 Feed

Campbell said his work at Hill Air Force Base in Utah involved supporting military communications networks and monitoring data from deployed aerial assets.

While working in the Network Operations Centre, he had access to live drone feeds used to check footage quality and monitor ongoing missions.

He said one encounter immediately stood out.The object appeared spherical but was not a perfect circle. It was seen travelling across the water at what Campbell described as a decent speed, apparently only a couple of feet above the surface.

The footage was initially displayed in infrared, showing the object as white hot against the darker background of the ocean.

Campbell said the drone appeared to follow the object smoothly, allowing him to watch its movement and apparent rotation.

'It was very, very close to the water,' Campbell told Graves during the podcast.

He estimated the object could have been between one and three metres in size, based on later encounters where the drone's tracking tools appeared to provide size measurements.

Strange Vortexes and a Laser-Like Line Appeared

Campbell said the object appeared to have three faint vortex-like features around its upper and lower sections. He also noticed something beneath the object that seemed to interact visually with the water.

'The water itself, it almost looked like a laser underwater,' Campbell said.

He described the feature as a narrow, straight line appearing beneath the object as it travelled over the waves. Campbell acknowledged that he could not determine whether it was actually energy entering the water, a reflection or an artefact in the infrared imagery.

Graves suggested it could potentially represent infrared energy coming from the bottom of the object and extending towards the ocean. However, neither the podcast discussion nor Campbell's description establishes what caused the unusual visual effect.

Campbell said the object itself showed no obvious wings, rivets or conventional propulsion system, while the infrared footage did not reveal an exhaust plume.

Campbell Preserved the Footage

Campbell said he asked personnel to save the unusual footage after seeing it in the system's highlights.

He explained that the military video system allowed users to clip portions of live drone feeds and preserve them in shared files. He described the UAP footage collection as largely informal rather than evidence of a dedicated investigation.

Campbell said the 2023 congressional UAP hearing helped convince him to speak about what he had witnessed.

His account remains based on his recollection of military footage he says he viewed as a contractor. The unusual imagery does not establish the object's origin or prove that it involved technology beyond known capabilities, but Campbell's description offers another striking account of an unexplained object appearing on a military surveillance feed.
