New character posters were released by Universal Pictures revealing the cast of The Huntsman: Winter's War. Charlize Theron plays The Evil Queen, Chris Hemsworth is The Warrior. Newcomers to the saga are Jessica Chastain's Warrior Sara and Emily Blunt is the Ice Queen Freya.

The 2012 film Snow White and the Huntsman raked in nearly $400 million in its worldwide box office, and Universal has even higher hopes for its spin-off, The Huntsman: Winter's War. Snow White and the Huntsman continues with the new sequel, an action-packed dark fairytale which reveals how the fates of The Huntsman Eric and Queen Ravenna are deeply and dangerously intertwined. Directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, the film is produced by Joe Roth (Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland), and has a release date of 22 April 2016.

Long before the evil Queen Ravenna (Theron) was thought vanquished by Snow White's blade, she watched silently as her sister, Freya (Blunt), suffered a heartbreaking betrayal and fled their kingdom. With Freya's ability to freeze any enemy, the young ice queen has spent decades in a remote wintry palace raising a legion of deadly huntsmen—including Eric (Hemsworth) and warrior Sara (Chastain)—only to find that her prized two defied her one demand: Forever harden your hearts to love.
