Olivia Jade has turned one of the most recognisable chapters of her family's past into fashion campaign material, starring in Reformation's new 'Good Sport' collection with a pointed reference to the college admissions scandal that once dominated headlines.

The 26-year-old content creator appears in the campaign's collegiate-themed images wearing polished preppy looks, including a limited-edition grey crewneck emblazoned simply with the word 'College'.

Reformation's campaign language makes the joke difficult to miss, describing the sweatshirt as 'the kind of crew that suits her better'. The collection launched on 16 September 2026.

The timing is significant because Jade's name became closely linked to the 2019 'Varsity Blues' scandal after her parents, actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, admitted to using a fraudulent scheme to secure their daughters' admission to the University of Southern California as purported rowing recruits.

Rather than avoiding that history, Reformation has built it into the campaign while directing proceeds from its College Crew towards students who face barriers to higher education.

Reformation Turns Olivia Jade's College History Into Fashion

Reformation's 'Good Sport' campaign places Jade in a deliberately collegiate setting, with the imagery built around autumn staples such as recycled cashmere, tailored separates, loafers and oversized knitwear.

The College Crew is the most direct reference. The limited-edition sweatshirt costs $128 and is being marketed alongside campaign imagery featuring Jade.

Page Six reported that Reformation says 100% of the net proceeds from the item will go to YES Scholars, a non-profit organisation that supports students from under-resourced communities with access to education and long-term opportunities.

The brand's campaign copy also plays on Jade's association with sport. Reformation said people had been studying her outfits for some time, adding that it was time for her to give everyone 'a lesson in dressing for sport'. The wording references the central detail of the admissions scandal without explicitly retelling it.

Why the 'College' Sweatshirt Carries Extra Meaning

The sweatshirt's wording takes on a different meaning because of Jade's family history.

In 2020, Loughlin and Giannulli pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges after prosecutors said they had secured fraudulent admissions for their two daughters at USC by presenting them as athletic recruits.

Court filings and prosecutors' sentencing materials said the couple paid $500,000 to help secure their daughters' admission to USC as purported crew recruits.

Court records detailed how the daughters were presented as crew recruits despite neither having participated in rowing. Giannulli was sentenced to five months in prison, while Loughlin received a two-month sentence. Both were also fined and ordered to complete supervised release and community service.

The case became part of a much larger federal investigation into college admissions fraud involving wealthy parents, coaches and admissions intermediaries. The case also prompted debate over wealth, privilege and access to prestigious universities.

Jade herself was not charged with a crime in the case. Her public profile, however, became closely associated with the controversy because the admissions scheme involved her and her sister's places at USC.

The Campaign Links the Joke to College Access

The decision to attach a charitable purpose to the College Crew gives the campaign another layer.

According to Reformation, all net proceeds from the limited-edition sweatshirt will benefit YES Scholars, which works with students from under-resourced communities and provides support through high school, college and career development.

That detail also separates the campaign from a simple celebrity fashion collaboration. The central joke draws on a controversial episode involving access to an elite university, while the proceeds are being directed towards students who may otherwise face financial or structural barriers to higher education.

The campaign also drew attention online. Some social media users praised Reformation for making the connection openly rather than attempting to disguise it.

Olivia Jade's Public Image Enters a New Chapter

The campaign arrives as Jade continues to build her own public identity as a creator and fashion figure after years of scrutiny surrounding her family.

Her appearance allows Reformation to combine a current fashion trend with a piece of celebrity history that remains instantly recognisable to many consumers. The collegiate styling, meanwhile, gives the collection a clear visual theme rather than relying solely on the controversy.

With the College Crew supporting an education charity, Reformation has made the reference unmistakable while attaching it to a campaign built around access, style and a second look at the meaning of 'college'.
