Ginnifer Goodwin Claims She Now Enjoys More Jobs Than in the Past 10 Years After Israel Support

Ginnifer Goodwin has revealed that she has landed more acting jobs since publicly speaking about her Jewish identity and support for Israel than she did during the previous decade.

The Once Upon a Time and Zootopia star made the comments while appearing on Jonah Platt's Being Jewish podcast alongside Josh Gad and Marlee Matlin. Discussing her fears about becoming outspoken, Goodwin said she had worried that publicly advocating for Jewish causes could damage her career.

Instead, she said the opposite happened. When Platt asked whether her career had been affected by speaking out, Goodwin replied that she had received 'far more jobs in the past year than I have in like 10 years.'

She Previously Feared Being Blacklisted

Goodwin explained that she and her husband, Josh Dallas, had discussed what could happen if her public advocacy affected her professional opportunities.

Goodwin revealed that they had considered the possibility of losing their home or having to pull their children from school because of her advocacy. In the end, she chose to fully embrace her Judaism, fight for her people and educate others, believing it was the only path that would allow her to live with integrity.

'I was asked to post about the hostages but what if I loose my career over this?' she said. 'It came down to "yeah we would be ok if we lost the house or had to pull our kids out..." because the truth is, there's only one way this goes where I can sleep at night.'

Her comments came as she described becoming considerably more connected to her Jewish identity following the 7 October 2023 attacks and the subsequent Israel-Gaza war.

Goodwin Became More Vocal After October 7

Goodwin said she initially began sharing posts about the attacks and Israeli hostages, believing that speaking publicly could help people understand what had happened.

In November 2023, she also publicly spoke on behalf of four-year-old Israeli hostage Raz Asher, asking for her and the other hostages to be brought home.

Goodwin has described that period as a turning point in her relationship with her Jewish identity. During the podcast, she said she became much more publicly engaged with Judaism and began incorporating Jewish traditions more strongly into her family life.

Her Comments Have Sparked Debate

Goodwin's statement about her career has since attracted renewed attention online, particularly because she presented the increase in work as something that happened after she became more outspoken.

However, her comments do not establish that her support for Israel directly caused her to receive more acting jobs. Her statement is a personal account of the timing of her advocacy and subsequent employment, rather than evidence of a broader hiring trend within Hollywood.

Goodwin has continued working in entertainment, including returning as the voice of Judy Hopps in Zootopia 2. Her recent credits also include television and voice work, while her career has continued to include projects connected to Disney.

Her remarks have nevertheless renewed discussion about whether actors can face professional consequences for publicly expressing political or religious views, and whether those fears always translate into the career setbacks they anticipate.
