It must be in the genes... not only are former Manchester United star midfielder David Beckham and his glamorous pop star-turned-fashion-designer wife in great demand as fashion icons and models, it now appears the couple's daughter, Harper Beckham, is following in their footsteps - she has been offered her first modelling contract.

Apparently personalised baby gift retailer Web site, My1stYears.com, has approached the Beckhams with a proposal for Harper to be the new face of their store.

According to a letter received by the Mirror, which has excerpts of the letter sent to Harper by the Web site's founder Emily Sandford, the young Beckham has been described as being perfect for the new range.

"Both your parents are fashion icons, and we can see no reason why you shouldn't start your own career in the fashion industry even at your young age," Emily wrote, "From what we have seen of you since your first public appearance less than a year ago, we know you have implacable style and taste. You were therefore the immediate first choice for our campaign."

"Due to child labor laws we cannot negotiate a contract or salary directly with you, that is why your Mommy and Daddy have been copied in on this letter. We are happy to speak with them about your fee; however, we are prepared to pay you a significant amount to be the face of our new range," she added.

The contract will have Harper modeling for clothing, blankets, booties, trainers and teddy bears with her name embroidered on them. If the star couple agrees to the deal, they will join a number of celebrities including Elton John and Dannii Minogue who are part of the site.

"We are extremely excited to have offered Harper Seven Beckham a job. Both her parents are fashion icons so she was our natural first choice," a spokesperson from My1stYears.com was quoted as saying, "If all is successful we hope My1stYears.com spark up the same relationship with Harper Seven as her father has done with brands like H&M."
