British actor David Legeno, who played Werewolf Fenrir Greyback in the Harry Potter series, died of heat stroke while hiking in a remote part of the Death Valley in California.

The body of Legeno, 50, was discovered by a pair of hikers in the remote wash below Manly Beacon in Death Valley, the Inyo County Sheriff said.

The officials sent out a helicopter to locate his body and recover it, the Sheriff added.

Legeno's manager Rick Bassman confirmed the death on Friday.

The Sheriff's office said that Legeno died of heat-related issues, but the Inyo County Coroner will determine the final cause of death, according to BBC.

The authorities confirmed that there were no signs of foul play.

County Deputy Coroner Jason Molinar said that Legeno's body may have been lying for days in triple-digit heat, as it was partially decomposed.

The actor is survived by a 20-year-old daughter.

Actor Tom Felton, who played villain Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter series, paid tribute to the star on twitter.

And later Felton also posted picture of the two together on a poster for the Harry Potter films on Instragram.

Dave Legeno. It was always a pleasure. He was a great talent with a heart of gold and always had time for anyone. Dave was a soft, kind gentleman off screen but had the skill to be the complete opposite on screen. He taught me lots, You will be missed mate xx #DaveLegeno

The British actor also appeared in Snatch, and Batman Begins, and was set to star in the upcoming film Sword of Vengeance.
