'Heated Rivalry' became an overnight success following its release. Its lead stars, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, also received several projects following their appearance in the hit HBO TV show. Storrie is set to host 'Saturday Night Live' at the end of this month, and Williams just made a public appearance at the Goldhouse to celebrate Lunar New Year.

Due to its success, the creators of 'Heated Rivalry' already announced that a second season is on its way. The show, adapted from Rachel Reid's books, will follow the second instalment in the author's series called the 'Long Game'. Of course, some parts of the book will be developed to make them more appealing to the viewers. Here's everything that we know about 'Heated Rivalry' Season 2 ahead of its release.

Without having to beat around the bush, the official release date for 'Heated Rivalry' Season 2 has not yet been confirmed. But series creator Jacob Tierney revealed that fans wouldn't have to wait that long. Realistically, the second season will most likely air in 2027 since filming and then editing all the science would take time. So, a 2026 release date is unlikely.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Tierney said that 'Heated Rivalry' Season 2 will not be released around the same time as the first season. But it will be available shortly after that. So, this suggests that season 2 will be released in the first quarter of 2027.

'It's not gonna be two years. It's not even gonna be 18 months, I don't think. So we're gonna go as fast as we can, whilst ensuring that we're doing as good a job as we possibly can,' he said.

The second season of 'Heated Rivalry' will feature some fan favourites. Of course, Williams and Storrie will reprise their roles as Shane and Ilya, respectively. Francois Arnaud is also set to return as Scott Hunter. Other cast members who will most likely be in season 2 include Christina Chang as Yuna, Dylan Walsh as David, Robbie Graham Kuntz as Kip, Callan Potter as Hayden, and more.

The second installment of Reid's series also introduces a new character named Wyatt, who plays the role of Ilya's goalie friend. Earlier this year, fans of 'Heated Rivalry' campaigned for Canadian actor Jack Innanen to portray the character. As of writing, there is still no confirmation whether Innanen will play the role or if anyone has already been cast for the part.

While it is known that 'Heated Rivalry' Season 2 will be loosely based on Reid's book the 'Long Game', it is still possible for the series creator to tweak or introduce some new storylines. Fans of Storrie and Arnaud want to see the two actors share more screen time with each other in season 2. After all, they are rumoured to be dating in real life and fans want to see their onscreen chemistry.

Since 'Heated Rivalry' Season 1 ended with Shane and Ilya coming out to the former's parents, the next step would be to come out to the rest of their team members. The couple was especially inspired when they saw Scott and Kip come out to the entire world following a hockey match.
