Here's Why Denise Richards And Husband Filed For Divorce After Six Years Of Marriage

After six years of marriage and despite Denise Richards' recent claims of 'never getting divorced again,' her marriage with Aaron Phypers is ending.

Phypers, 52, filed for divorce on Monday, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. He listed the date of separation as 4 July and stated the reason for the split as 'irreconcilable differences.'

The documents also show that Phypers has requested spousal support from his 54-year-old wife along with ownership of certain items he says belong to him.

Phypers said in the papers the couple share no minor children together. However, in 2019 he claimed that he was planning on adopting Richards' third daughter, Eloise. Richards adopted her 14-year-old as a single mum in 2011, and it was never confirmed whether Phypers went through with the adoption himself.

What The Court Documents Say

Per the documents, Phypers has cited the reason for divorce as the typical 'irreconcilable differences' and requested spousal support from the Wild Things actress.

He estimated her total income from OnlyFans, TV, brand deals and appearances to be £184,110 ($250,000) per month.

Their spending habits, he said, were around £77,300 ($105,000) per month on clothes, rent, eating out, entertainment, groceries and utilities.

Phypers, a businessman, said he has no income of his own, and that Richards has been the one footing the bill of their expenses.

He also requested the court to confirm his ownership over property including his powertools, motorcycle, and sports car.

This Will Be Both Richards' and Phypers' Second Divorce

Richards and Phypers had each been through a divorce before marrying each other in 2018.

Richards shares two daughters with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, who she was with from 2002 until 2006.

Phypers was previously married to Desperate Housewives star, Nicollette Sheridan, but filed for divorce just six months after they got married in 2016.

He then met Richards at the Malibu healing centre where he worked at in 2017. The pair began dating that year and married just 15 months later–the same year that Phypers' divorce from Sheridan was finalised.

'Aaron and Denise just got engaged and would love to be married sooner than later now that his divorce is finally in his past,' a source told PEOPLE at the time.

'The two of them are very happy and have settled into life with one another, so now they're pretty focused on getting this very intimate ceremony off the ground. They're just ready to start their married life together,' they added.

Six years later, Richard's and Phypers' married life is coming to its end.

Divorce Comes After Recent Claims They Never Would

It was only four months ago that Richards discussed why divorce from Phypers wasn't an option for her.

Richards and Phypers agreed that splitting up wasn't something they'd ever do in the premiere of Richard's Bravo reality series, 'Denise Richards & Her Wild Things.'

'It's not easy being married to me,' Richards said, to which Phypers replied, 'It is not, and she said it! But this is it. I'm done.'

Richards continued, 'Yeah, I'm never getting divorced again. Even if we hate each other, I'm not gonna f---ing get divorced.'

Phyper's agreed with her. 'No, we'll just have different homes or something,' he said. 'But we're not gonna hate each other.'
