iPhone 5 Vs iPhone 4S: Top five reasons why you should upgrade? Reuters

Apple fans world over are keenly awaiting the launch of the sixth-generation iPhone, as the grand unveiling of the New iPad has shifted the focus to the next device in the release lineup - the iPhone 5.

Apple quite unexpectedly missed out on a few most-anticipated features such as the A6 quad-core processor, Siri and iOS 6 with the new iPad. Then, it is only befitting that we expect those missing features to be available on the new iPhone.

Let's take a look at the top five reasons why you should upgrade your existing iPhone.

Bigger and Better Display

iPhone 5 is expected to come with an aluminum rear panel reinforced by glossy plastic or rubberized bezel. The smartphone is likely to be thinner, longer and wider than its predecessor - iPhone 4S, paving way for a larger 4-inch screen.

In comparison, iPhone 4S sports a 3.5-inch display that is precisely the same as the iPhone 4. iPhone lovers might like the size of the current iPhone which will be ideal to carry in their pockets. The new iPhone with its expectedly larger screen size is meant for watching movies and playing games, providing better entertainment value.

iPhone 4S flaunts the Retina display with the resolution of 960x640 pixels, but iPhone 5 will take it a step further by adding a HD (high definition) resolution of 1280x720 pixels. Expect superior picture clarity and vivid colours on the new iPhone, owing to the higher resolution and an edge-to-edge screen.

4G LTE Connectivity

iPhone 4S did not see the light of 4G LTE and had to be content with 3G. However, the advent of 4G LTE on the new iPad has boosted our expectations of inheriting the same feature on the next-gen iPhone.

If the expectations come true, iPhone users would benefit with 4G LTE, whose speed would be 10 times faster than the 3G network. Browsing would be a breeze then, thanks to 4G LTE.

Quad-Core A6 Chip

The current iPhone equips an A5 chip from apple, providing realistic game play experience, which is given for gamers.

If there is any truth in rumours, iPhone 5 will be porting the quad-core A6 chip, as the new iPad missed out on A6 chip and shipped with A5X instead. So it would be befitting if the next-gen iPhone gets the A6 chip to complement the super-fast 4G LTE.

Improved Siri

iPhone 4S has Siri technology onboard albeit in its beta version. Expect the sixth-gen iPhone carry the improved Siri for a better user experience.

Enhanced Features with iOS 6

iOS 5 powers all existing iOS devices including the iPhone 4S. The unveiling of new iPad accompanied the launch of iOS 5.1, which brought several feature enhancements and bug fixes for performance issues with battery-life and dropping audio levels with outgoing calls.

It is befitting to expect the new iOS 6 to accompany the launch of yet another flagship product from Apple - the iPhone 5. An improved Siri is also on the cards.
