Michael Jones admitted making an indecent image of a child, one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image and one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child.

Kent paedophile Michael Jones could be out of jail in under a year after being caught with more than 41 hours of sickening child pornography. The 74-year-old was arrested last year and admitted hoarding a cache of vile images and making an indecent images of children.

In total he was convicted of three counts of making an indecent image of a child, one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image and one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child. He was sentenced to one year's imprisonment at Canterbury Crown Court and could be out within months under good behaviour rules.

Jones was arrested after police executed a warrant at his Ramsgate address on 30 January last year.
A forensic analysis of his computer found he had downloaded 242 category A images, 207 category B images and 1,466 category C images.

Category A is the most serious level of offending and involve penetrative sexual activity including with an animal or sadism.

In addition to this Jones had 156 category A videos, 35 category B videos and 87 category C videos with a running time of over 41 hours. He also had 38 prohibited images and 25 images that were classified as "extreme pornography".

Detective Constable Mark Bennett said: "Every one of these images and videos is a real victim being exploited, and those who are create a market for this by downloading the content are adding to the misery of those who suffer so horribly for the material to be created.

"We will use every available resource to us to track down those and arrest those who are supporting this criminal industry."
