Kentaro Sakaguchi Faces Scrutiny After Wife Called Police Ahead of Korean Drama Return

Kentaro Sakaguchi's wife called police to their home on 17 September after an argument escalated, Japanese publication Josei Seven reported, ahead of the actor's return to Korean television.

The reported visit came 11 days after Sakaguchi announced his marriage. He is set to appear alongside Lee Joon-gi in kiDnap GAME, an Asian co-production scheduled to air on Channel A.

The magazine's account, published on 28 September, described an emergency call to 110 late midnight. Officers reportedly responded immediately and went to the couple's home, where an argument between them had escalated.

A police source described the incident as an escalated argument between the couple. The report did not mention any arrests or legal proceedings.

Sakaguchi's agency did not respond to the publication's questions by its deadline. The available account does not establish what prompted the argument or include either spouse's description of what happened.

The timing places the reported police visit shortly after the actor made his marriage public. It does not establish that the couple had been married for only 11 days.

Kentaro Sakaguchi's Marriage and Earlier Scrutiny

Sakaguchi announced his marriage through his official paid fan club on 6 September. He told members that he had recently married a woman who was not a public figure and said he intended to remain dedicated to his acting career.

His agency subsequently confirmed the wedding news to Oricon. The announcement was framed as a personal update to fans, alongside an assurance that his work as an actor would continue.

His wife is a hair and makeup artist three years his senior. According to reports, they first met on the set of a Nippon TV drama in 2019 and dated for more than five years before marrying.

Their relationship had attracted attention in September 2025, when Shukan Bunshun alleged that Sakaguchi had been involved with actor Mei Nagano while dating his partner.

The publication claimed that, after Sakaguchi disclosed the alleged overlapping relationship, his partner warned Nagano, 'Stay away from my boyfriend.' Those claims do not establish the cause of the argument described in the latest report.

Korean Television Work for Kentaro Sakaguchi

Sakaguchi's forthcoming project, kiDnap GAME, is an international co-production whose story unfolds across seven Asian cities. Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei and Singapore are among the locations identified, with Channel A carrying the series for Korean viewers.

The role follows a career that began in modelling in 2010. Sakaguchi worked for Men's Non-no before moving into acting in 2014, building a body of work in both television and feature films.

His screen credits include the film The 100th Love with You and television drama Dr. Chocolate. His profile beyond Japan grew with the 2024 series What Comes After Love, which expanded his following across Asia.

The series was released on Coupang Play in South Korea and Prime Video in Japan. It brought together a Japanese leading actor and a South Korean co-star in a cross-border production.

That production marked his entry into Korean dramas, with Sakaguchi playing Aoki Jungo opposite South Korean actor Lee Se Young. It was adapted from a novel co-written by Hitonari Tsuji and Gong Ji Young.
