Katana Kitsao Gona was caught by having sex with a female goat in a bush by a passer-by.

A man who was sentenced to 10 years for bestiality came face to face in a Kenyan courtroom with the female goat he had sex with.

Katana Kitsao Gona, 28, was arrested in Dabaso after a neighbour caught him having sex with the animal.

According to KTN Kenya, Gona was found embracing the goat which had been tied up to graze. The witness alerted the animal's owner, who called the police.

A medical examination carried out by veterinary officer Munga Gambo confirmed that the goat had been sexually assaulted.

The goat was taken into the Malindi courtroom by prosecutors as evidence and was kept there when sentencing was passed.

Gona, who pleaded guilty, asked for a pardon because his wife, who was disabled, depended on him daily.

Presiding judge Muthoni Nzibe, however, ruled that he had defiled the goat and handed down what is believed to be the longest prison term ever given for bestiality in Kenya.
